Hello, kids, and Happy Holidays from Miss D! How fitting that right around Thanksgiving, I bring you a cornucopia of drag tidbits from all over.
How about that Erica Andrews — the gal has done it again. Just when you thought she couldn’t win another damned crown, she goes to Thailand and is crowned by her Continental sister, Mimi Marks, as the third Miss International Queen. I just saw her on ABC’s “The Insider” giving beauty secrets (duct tape, no less) and confessing to having dated (but not having been intimate with) a pro basketball star. Things that make you go hmmm. Erica’s runners-up included Ratravee Jiraprapakul of Thailand and Patricia Montrecarlo of the Phillipines.
I guess the most recent national contest that took place would have to be Miss Gay U.S.ofA. at Large. Congrats are in order for a painted Texan by the name of Kathryn York — she won Best Talent and Evening Gown. You’ve certainly read her name here before.
Kathryn’s RU’s included 1st Chevelle Brooks, 2nd Amber Nixx (who also won Most Beautiful), 3rd Dorae Saunders (winner of Overall Interview) and 4th Charity Case.
Congrats to Kent Woofter of Warehouse 29 in Greensboro for winning Prelim of the Year, to Dena Cass for winning Best New State pageant and to Scott Ross of the U.S.ofA. staff on being given the Distinguished Service Award for everything that he does, including maintaining the nice website they have. Oh, other finalists included Sybil Ann Storm, Payje Turner, Malaysia Black, Jocelyn Summers, Alyssa Williams, Nova Starr and Trecenia St. James.

Mr. and Miss Black Universe was held recently in Atlanta and congrats are in order for Terrell Luv Dupree and Antwanette Chanel Roberts on being the the new king and queen.
Their RU’s included: for the guys — Nio Dickerson, Alphonse Dupree, Zodiac Bonet and Koby Black and for the ladies — Tierra Tajoure, Stacia Onassis, Whitney Paige and Nikki Bonet.
Just a reminder about the company out of Orlando that has the website where you can pay a small fee to see recent pageants, including the most recent National EOY, which Erica Andrews won. You can look them up at www.clickclickexpose.com, ok?
Recently, another Miss United States pageant was held in Roanoke at the Park and our Miss NC U.S.ofA., Jessica Jade, won. Her RU’s included Melissa Lane, Scarlett Dailey and India Ferrah. All right for the 10 dancing toes of Miss Jessica, hunny.
In local news, we have a new Warehouse Witch — Neely O’Hara, with RU’s Sasha Chambers and Cherries Jubillee. Former Miss Olive Oyl told me all about it.
The new Miss Greensboro U.S.ofA. is Raven Wood and RU Big Shirli “Paint’em for the Back Row” Stevenz. The new Miss Alias in Fayetteville, N.C., is Nellie Bottoms, with RU Tiffany Heights. And the new Miss Pidemont U.S.ofA. is Arabia Knight Addams with RU Erica Diamond Sutton. I hate that I missed Melania Cortez giving up her title, but I was in Hickory at Club Cabaret, which brings me to the next item of business. Many congratualtions go to Dana St. James who is our newest Miss NC FFI. Dana was resplendent in evening gown and sportswear and had a fantastic talent. Her RU’s were Isabella Diamante (who won talent), Malysia Black, Neely O’Hara and Reva Iman Black.
Other finalists included Raven Wood, Victoria Victors, Beverly Iman Johnson, Jewell Holiday, and Breyannah Allure. Natalie Smalls of Natalie Productions/O’Henry’s won Promoter of the Year. It was also announced that evening that the winner and 1st RU have qualified to go on and compete at a new national pageant, Miss USA Unlimited, which falls under the umbrella group of USA Unlimited. A second round of congrats goes to all involved.
In closing, I’d like to remember Texas’ Ariel Andrews who passed last month. She was one of the original daughters of the late, great Tandi Andrews. Hats off! |
