Greetings in the name of a fabulous pageant or a wonderful show. Here we are once again to pour the tea on just that…I hope you liked the short and sweet story in the previous Q-Notes about the Continental weekend, ’cause it sure was fierce. One more round of congrats to Dominique Chappelle, our new Miss Continental. She’s everybody’s girl.

And speaking of Continental, you know how we do it — that’s the perfect opening to mention a winner of the most recent prelim to Miss Continental PLUS, Christian Valentino, who won Miss Metropolitan and to also go back and mention one young lady who qualified to compete at Miss Continental who I forgot — Nicole Ellington Dupree ended up winning Miss Tennessee!

And speaking of the big girls, I couldn’t be happier to mention recent qualifiers to Miss Gay U.S.ofA. at Large, which takes place in just weeks, ending up two nights before Miss Gay America. Congrats to Paisley Parque our new Miss N.C. at Large, and her RU Dorae Saunders, with alternate Dy’mond Cartier; TN — Ondreah Montrese and RU CoCo Couture; IN — Lady Ivanna and RU Michelle Preston; FL — Jasmine Skiies and RU Denile; Miss OH is Payje Turner; the new Miss Rocky Mountain is Khrystal Leight with alternates Nova Starr and Kayla Stevens Love.

The first preliminary to Miss Gay U.S.ofA. was held in Houston, it was Miss TX, naturally, and they say our Miss U.S.ofA. Tamisha Iman was exquisite. The winner was Tersa Matthews. She did her famous impersonations of the different queens for talent (which was great, I saw it online) and her RU was a lovely Asia O’Hara. Nothing like a good pageant in Texas.

Recent qualifiers to go to Miss America include Miss Texas (and former Miss U.S.ofA.) Layla LaRue (yes ma’am) and RU Onyx, Miss Delaware — Diva and Miss Mid-Atlantic Celebrity Starr with RU Lady Marissa.

We’ll end with a plethora of local news and tidbits, starting off with some old news. I owe an apology to my girl Malaysia Black who won Miss Club 9 at Large a while back and it simply slipped my mind. She also just recently won Miss New Beginnings over in Johnson City and was crowned by an N.C. sister, Roxxy Hart. Laylay’s runners-up included Maya Campbell and Jessica Jade. Malaysia also recently won Miss Global Universe down in Columbia with RU Alexis Chanel. That same night, Dy’mond Cartier won Global Universe at Large and Honey Divine won Global Universe Newcomer. Two other local contests to speak of — Miss Blue Ridge, a prelim to the Scandals’ Land of the Sky contests, which lovely Verba S. Deo won, with RU Ashley Adams and Miss Summer Fun, relinquished by Sasha Chambers, with Jessica Jade winning and taking on-stage question, 1st RU Malaysia Black taking creative evening gown, creative swimwear and talent and 2nd RU Raven Wood.

One exciting contest coming up that I’d love to tell you about — former Miss Castle Victoria Morgan told me all about a contest they have coming up down there on Oct. 8 in Greenville, S.C. — Miss Castle Entertainer of the Year, featuring a prize package of $1000 that night and $500 more in bookings — winner take all. Just imagine. Especially with only two categories — gown and talent. Baby, the girls will come with all kinds of stunts that night, I suppose. Sounds like it’s time for a road trip. They recently held Miss Fyaetteville Newcomer at Spektrum, and congrats go to Riva Iman Black, the winner, and her RU Ariel Nicole Knight-Addams; also to Jessica O’Brien who was just apppointed Miss South Eastern United States to compete at Miss U.S. in Roanoke, VA; and a hearty congrats to our former Miss NC U.S.ofA., Diamond, on winning Miss Greensboro FI with RU Bridget LeMans. Diamond took all categories that evening.

Unfortuantely, I have to close with sad news — the passing of a good and dear sister, Portia DeParis of Columbia, S.C., who had just won the 25th Anniversary Miss Castle Pageant in late April. Hats off to a sweet queen.
