Hello kiddies. Here I am packing my bags to descend upon the Windy City for the annual drag Oscars, otherwise known as Miss Continental. I can’t wait to get back to tell y’all all about it! We’ll start off this time with the other young ladies who qualified since we were last together. The new Miss Canada is Lola Banana; Chicago Latina, Ruby Crews; Shining Star, Caress; and Zim Marss, Annastacia DeMoore. At this writing, all kinds of rumors are flying — who will have the fiercest talent, most back-up dancers, loveliest gown — but in the end, I sure hope little Sasha Valentino pulls it all off if she goes correctly. If ever there was a child who has paid her “dues,” it would be her. But, some new fierce child could go in and rob them all, and that’s what makes it all so exciting — no one is really “owed” anything — you have to deserve/earn it.

After Miss Continental, the next two biggies will be U.S.ofA. at Large and Miss Gay America. I have exciting news about qualifiers from both systems. As for Miss At-Large, Armani Davenport won Louisiana with RU Roslyn Heights, Musica Malone won Show Me State with RU Alexchandra. In the Miss America field, we have Maya McNeil winning Louisiana, Scarlett Dailey winning N.C. with RU Sasha Chambers, Amanda Bury is Miss AZ, Kitti Mame Dietrich is PA, Arkansas — Meghan Michaels, Ashleigh Adams is D.C., and believe it or not, former Miss Everything Victoria Parker won Miss TN, with RU DeMonica Santangelo.

Recently, the Parliament House in Orlando celebrated it’s 30th anniversary, including a spectacular show of the Footlight Players, impersonators and male leads, and the show included the likes of a who’s who of entertainers: Shae Shae LaReese, Mokha Montrese, Hurricane Summers, Sierra Foxx, Darcel Stevens, Arianna Dupree, Tasha Long, Carmella Marcella Garcia, Danielle Hunter, Tiffany McCray, Kelly Anderson, Stephanie Shippae, Tiffany Middlesexx, Tori Holden, Dee Ranged, Asia Black, Cezanne, Wendy Grape, Von Gretchen, Bobbie Lake, Maya Andrews, Leigh Shannon, Angel Sheridan, Rusti Fawcett, Lori Delmar, Nefertinya and male leads Bob Taylor, Tyjuan, Ronnie Davis and Eddie Vizcaya. Sounds like I missed the show of shows — damn.

Wonderful news about a friend of mine — you’ve all heard me speak of Hot Chocolate from Las Vegas. She recently opened for the Pussy Cat Dolls in concert in Portland, Ore. Not too shabby for a resume, huh?

In the last Rag, I mentioned the winner and two runners-up from Miss EOY — wanted to include the rest of the Top 10 — Erika Norell, The Princess, Trinity Taylor, Lady Angelica, Asia, our Miss N.C. LaWanda Jackson and Camille Simpson.

In closing, hats off to Charlotte entertainer Big Mama B who recently had her goodbye show at Scorpio, with a show of big names, locally and beyond, including her daughter Luscious, Kerri Nichols, Tracy Morgan, Gypsy Starr, Kasey King, Elaine Davis and emcee Tamalah Taylor. I watched from the audience with grandma Boom Boom LaTour. B, you were fabulous — thanks for always making your goal to entertain your audience above all else. There was a special show the night before at Scorpio which also included Amber Rachelle St. James.
