Pageants galore, which I adore
Well, kiddies, here we are again to celebrate pageantry amongst the most exciting artform I can think of — you got it, some good ole’ drag!

This time, our pic is of a very accomplished queen by the name of Erica Renee Andrews of San Antonio, a former Miss Everything and our newest National Entertainer of the Year. Her runners-up and other finalists included Dee Ranged, Mokha Montrese, LaWanda Jackson, Danyel Vasquez, China, Syimone, Gayla Grace, Sydney Austria Brooks and Deyjah Mirage. Long live the famous Andrews family!

And you know me, I love a lead-in — Erica’s daughter Sasha Andrews has just won Miss Texas U.S.ofA. This was the first prelim of the year for our newest Miss U.S.ofA., Alyssa Edwards, whom I just adore, of course. Anyway, there’s so much history with that pageant and so many divas in the Lone Star State (and yes, so many papis out there, too) that I must make it out there one day.

Enough of my dreaming — Sasha’s runners-up were Asia O’Hara, Dion Summers, Amber Stevens and another Andrews gal, Miss Janet, who is also Miss TX Continental right now. In the next Rag, we’ll see how she fared at the big dance in Chicago.

The most recent U.S.ofA. at Large contest I know about was the Miss Great Lakes, which Khrystal Leight of St. Louis won. How fabulous.

Oooh, shame on me for not mentioning the outcome of Miss International Goddess in NYC several weeks back. Ashley Blake won and Daesha Richards and Jasmine International were runners-up. Sounds fierce to me. I do know Chanel Dupree and adult film star Allanah Starr (formerly known as Damianne Devine) judged.

On the America scene, we have so many queens who have recently qualified, like my sweet friend from way back, Miss Victoria DePaula, who won Miss Missouri; Lexxy Fearce, who won PA; Savanna DeLorean, who won LA; Miss D.C. Ashley Bannks with RU Stephanie Michaels; and Miss Arizona Mykaila Kai with RU Mya McKenzie. Fallon Scott will be representing Miss California and Ginger Manchester will represent Georgia. It’s heating up, folks!

Not sure if I have in the past, but before we pour the tea on Miss Continental in the next issue, I wanted to make sure to mention that Vegas Dion won Samantha Perez’s Miss Florida contest — another one of those fabulous “boy queens” succeeding in drag today.
Rounding it out with local news, hats off to Tenisha Cassidine on winning Miss New Beginnings over in Johnson City, TN, and to her RUs Dana St. James and Dorae Saunders. Also, congrats to our own Arabia Knight-Addams on winning the Miss Venus International contest recently. A big-time shout-out goes to my sister Tracy Morgan on winning Miss Hairspray up in Asheville, with RUs Chanel Chevonne and Blaize. Kudos go to LuAnne Landreth on relinquishing her title that night. Still haven’t found out the tea about that rocky beginning, but...

The new Miss Summer Fun (a long running pageant in NC) is a painted big girl from the D.C. area by the name of Kristina Kelly. That sister loves some make-up, I’m here to tell you. (And if I know a big sis well, probably a buffet and some hot bois, too!) Her RUs were Scarlett Dailey and Raven Wood. Congrats to Kristina, one of our former Misses NC U.S.ofA. at Large!

Here in Charlotte, we have a new Miss Pride — my little baby Angela Lopez. I’m so proud of that child. Her first runner-up was Kiana Lane and Macy Alexander was giving it up. Held on Pride weekend, there was also a Pride show the next day downtown with the likes of Angela (the Panamanian feesh), Gypsy Starr, Sabrina Love (who also emceed), Brooklyn Dior, Tracy Morgan and two productions from Miss Detra Penucci. A big thank you to Scorpio bar owner Rick Wilds who gave an obscenely generous amount of money for PRIDE Charlotte!
