Miss Gay U.S.ofA. Alyssa Edwards of Dallas, TX |
Greetings,
drag fans, and welcome back to the place where we talk about pageants
and the artists who do them. I am so excited because the next time you
hear from me, we’ll have a new Miss Continental. I promise a picture
or two and all that.
Things are heating up here with all these big-name girls qualifying for
the contest at the last minute — makes things all the more exciting!
Necole Luv Dupree just won Miss TN, Armani won Miss Metropolitan and the
first RU, Regine Phillips, will represent Sunshine States Metropolitan.
Every single one of these girls have been finalists before. Mix these three
with Yosmein Campbell Starr, Mokha Montrese and, of course, Jasmine International,
and you have yourself a pageant. Plus, let us not forget Jordan Kennedy
and Miss Janet Andrews.
I forgot to mention in the last column the results of the Miss National
Icon held in Greensboro moons ago — my apologies! Necole Luv Dupree
won the Miss and DaMauntaye Davin won the Mister. Runners-up included:
Natasha Braxton, Dorae Sierra Saunders and Beverly Iman Johnson; and for
the guys — De’von T. Davis, Michael Iman and Jerry Trollinger.
Please forgive the oversight, folks.
In the America system, we have Crystal Stone winning the Miss Ohio contest;
K’rli Adams winning Oklahoma with RU Lindsay Paige; and Brittany
O’Bryan winning Mississippi.
As for prelims to Miss U.S.ofA. at Large, we have the gorgeous national
titleholder Raven St. James hopping planes to hither and yon, reigning
supremely over prelims like Miss Big and Beautiful, which former Miss America
Charity Case won; Miss Midwest, which Terri Steele won; and Sunshine State,
which Star M. Love won with RU Jocelyn Summers.
On the local scene, we have two prelims to Miss NC FFI — Miss Asheville,
which Reva Iman Black won, and Miss Gay Western Carolina, which Neely O’Hara
won with RU Lisa Fontaine.
Also, Macy Alexander will be representing Miss SC at the Miss United States
pageant later on this fall.
In closing, I salute James Brown who was an owner of the Metro of Jacksonville,
FL, who passed away recently. He was a great promoter of the art and was
instrumental in helping the careers of many popular showgirls, including
Alexis Gabrielle Sherrington and Deception. |
