Hunny,
if y’all kids don’t slow down on having these pageants, I
don’t know where in the world I’m gonna document the results.
So much has transpired since the last time — let’s dig in.
We’ll start with the most recent national contests that I know about — the
Continental Elite and PLUS pageants. Exciting stuff for me, being a huge
Maya Douglas (pictured) fan, that she won the Elite. She says this will
be the end of her competing days, but in the meantime, she’ll continue
her work at the newly renovated and enlarged Rose Room at the Village Station
in Dallas, as well as start flying again to prelims and special appearances.
The top eight included Vickie Williams, Petit de Jonville, Cherise, Diva,
Jerrine Jeffries, 2nd RU Franchesque Richards and 1st RU Sheri Payne.
As for PLUS, first of all, let’s start by congratulating our own
Amaya on giving it up. The winner was a gorgeous Desiree DeMornay. Others
in the top13 were: Tiffany, Divinity, Kiki V. Lord, Rita Marlowe, Ivana
Black, Ava Chanel Alexandria, Miss S.C. Nina Cherry, Trixxie Deluxe, Mokha
Montrese, Christian Valentino, 2nd RU Ivy White and the lovely Latin diva
Coco Van Cartier as 1st RU. My best wishes to Desiree on a year that I
know will mean a lot to her — she’s tried so hard for years
and finally got it.
Qualifying to compete at Miss Continental, the September Showdown, we have
Miss IL Sage Summers, Heart of America Terri Payne, Miss NYC Latina Rachel
Summers, Miss New York, NY Deception, City Lights Lady Marissa and Miss
Shining Star Mokha Montrese.
Coming up at the end of the month we have the Miss Gay U.S.ofA. in Dallas,
Texas. Recent qualifiers include: Miss Midwest Vivian Belle, Southern States
Natasha Braxton, Miss PA Victoria Lace and Asheville’s Coco Couture
won Miss Great Lakes. Congrats, gals.
Also, the weekend before, they will have the Miss Classic U.S.ofA. contest
and competing will be Alicia Markstone who won Atlantis, Joey Winters who
won Heartland, Miss TX (an old buddy of mine) Monique Johnson, Miss Ohio
Scarlett Dailey (let’s hope she shows up) and Miss Olympus Kofi.
The only recent prelimn to Miss U.S.ofA. at Large was Miss Atlantis. Jazz’myn
Turrelle of Oklahoma City won that one.
On the Miss Gay America scene, I’ll start by offering congrats to
my neicey Luscious on winning Miss Western States; her RU was Alina Maletti.
Other MGA prelims include Miss MD, which Andora TeTee won, with RU Akasha
Cassadine and Miss Tri-States, which Evelyn Forest won with RU Regina Aignier.
In more local contests, we have Dorae Saunders who won Miss Charlotte Black
Gay Pride; Aurora Sexton who won Miss Stonewall up in Huntington, WV; Miss
Spektrum, with winner Yosmein Dupree Chanel and 1st alternate Ebbony Addams;
Miss Star Wars down at Fusion in Columbia, which Arabia Knight-Addams won;
Miss Scandals, which Ashley Adams won; and Luscious also recently won Miss
N.C. FFI at Large, with Neely O’Hara and Veronia Steele as her alternates.
On the same night, Mr. N.C. FFI at Large was held and Holden Michaels won,
with his alternate, Sean C. Colby.
Here’s a tidbit before I go that I think is very exciting — a
company out of Orlando is going to start offering a pageant pay-per-view
service. Check them out at www.clickclickexpose.com, ok?
In closing, I dedicate this column to the memory of two wonderful supporters
of female impersonation who were both club owners and pageant promoters.
Jesse Garza of Texas was a titan in the Lone Star State, known for his
love and support of some successful girls we know and love from out there
and Art Fryar, formerly of Asheville, who owned Scandals, many, many city
prelims to Miss N.C. America and N.C. U.S.ofA. and was the former owner
of Miss Southern States U.S.ofA. Hats off to both of them.
